Hmm 5.4" f/4.5 sounds like it's made for medium format reproduction... but this has no aperture and looks more like a projection lens so I have no clue. Might very be good but I guess it's not better than average.
I like to see some testshots

Do you have acess to basic chemicals? If not, is sodium hydroxide based drain cleaner available in the UK? It's sold here as granules with 90%+ NaOH, some Aluminium and tensides for about 3-5€/500-1000g. And it's also avaible as 50% solution with blue dye and tensides in supermarkets here. Both will...

I've asked the seller if an inspection of the unit could be arranged prior to purchase. The response may or may not be an accurate indicator. I have no inclination or intention to buy the unit, but shipping costs to Australia are listed as GBP 36.50 :-s Such an amount for shipping does not appear s...

A good and cheap infintie RMS or M27 100x objective?
Hello. I got some nice old preparations of different parasites and some diseases in human blood. But I don't have any usable 100x objective for that (I think 800-1000x will be necessary effectivly). I'm looking for something between 40-100€ (also used of course). Infinite ones with RMS or M27 would ...

NEX-M42 adapter would be a good start as M42 bellows and extension tubes are cheap and easily adaptable to M39, RMS, M26, M27, retroadapters, etc. NEX 7 has a lot more functions, 24MP instead of "only 16MP" ;) which I guess will produce a better picture quality at ISO 100-400, it has many more butto...

Dou you have any light leaks in your setup etc.? Or a dirty lens? Not only the sharpness is bad, also the contrast and glow is very "vaseline". http://janrik.net/MiscSubj/2012/topic15960/2-7-2012%2011-08-48%20PM.jpg This looks like an problem with the stacking software for me (or maybe vibration but...

Re: Live view software
Youre in the the wrong section here. I don't know your model but most Sony except Sony A700- and I think the fullformat DSLRs only have HDMI- or (older ones) analog video output wich could be used for live view and no remote software for PC. I used my NEX-5N with (mini-)HDMI cable on a 24" computer ...

Did you use the Rodagons stopped down? I compared my Rodagon 50 2.8 (which looks very different to yours) against El Nikkor 50 2.8. To my suprise the Rodagon was much weaker wide open, but stopped down a little ~to 5.6 it was a tack better than the El Nikkor, with much better overall contrast and co...

In the below 1000€ class the Sony NEX 5N should be the best camera has the best image quality and no field relevant vibration at all (half electronical shutter). Cost around 500€ for the body or 590€ for a kit only +it has a HDMI output and the best and most noisefree liveview you can imagine - you ...

Really interesting experiment - thanks :) Forgive my ignorance but you have mounted your setup on your microscope but would they equally work with an infinity objective attached to the front of the tube lens with a suitable adapter? I lack a tube lens so haven't been able to try infinity lenses so ...

3 cheap tube lens substitutes - comparision
I've tested 3 lenses as tube lens substitutes. The competitors are the Schneider Kreuznach G-Claron 150 f/9 (APO), Rodenstock Rodagon 150mm f/5.6 and Tokina RMC 200mm F3.5. I payd 40€ for the Rodagon, 22€ for the G-Claron and the Tokina RMC is a heirloom from my father, but usually goes between 15€ ...

I also guess the problem is vibration. Try to fix the camerabody (and the lens!) on a heavy and hard wooden plate to absorb most of the Well, the objective has all the right markings. 10/0.25 160/0.17 Isn't this objective designed for an 0.17mm thick cover slip? Could this be what's limiting the res...
