Gitzo explorer. Bought it as the ultimate macro tripod, but it does fine with my Shen Hao 4x5 too.

Hi Anupam--Is there any compatibility reason the 105 VR wouldn't work with generic extension tubes like those by Kenko? I should think they would work with the Kenkos but I haven't tried them. But it is weird that a company doesn't support its own extension tubes and Nikon doesn't make any tubes wi...

Nikon's decision to make this a G lens which is thus incompatible with the PN-11 tube is absurd. The PN-11 is probably one of the most useful macro accesories. If you use flash then the stability of VR is irrelevant. If you use a ambient light with a tripod then the stability of VR is irrelevant. If...

Wonderfully done. I am wondering about the specimens in your photographs. They look alive - so how are you getting them under a microscope and once there - to stay still enough for focus stacks. Thanks - I'd appreciate any insights.

Componon 28mm/f4

Magnificient. Simply awesome.

I use that schneider lens and can vouch that it is a true gem. Picked it up for $20, I believe. Makes me laugh when people spend big bucks to get magnification.

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words.

I only saw this phenomenon once this year on a very cold morning just before sunrise. I'll keep on the lookout next year - I want to try and shoot it on 4x5 with BW film. That might be a little tough to focus, but the movements should help.

Web of pearls

Hello, I have been lurking for a few days and finally signed up today. Thought I'd post a couple of shots to start off. Any thoughts would be welcome. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/basu/web/gallery/Film%20Scan/Closeups/slides/061101_07.jpg https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/basu/web/gallery/Film%20Scan/Close...
