Such kindness...
As a lurker mostly, I’ve seen examples before, however in reading through this thread I’m sincerely impressed by the kindness, generosity and patience of those expert and senior members of this group who are so selflessly encouraging an eager new member who is trying with gumption and enthusiasm to ...

Zeiss IV-FL vertical illuminator...
Switching between filter positions is accomplished by gently pulling the black cylinder out to the second position... The lubricant may be a bit dry so the tug may initially be a bit stiff. By loosening the forward-facing thumbscrew the whole component holding the filters comes away. Pulling out the...

First non-Nikon component in the U-TLU stack?
Your photos of the MM-11 adaptation are crisp and helpful, but I don't understand the larger-diameter component that you're showing at the bottom of your U-TLU / U-TV1X / U-TMAD / T-mount stack that actually attaches to the Nikon dovetail... Is this an Olympus part, or is this something you had made...

50/50 dichroic mirror for coaxial illumination on eBay...
To pick up on a discussion thread I read somewhere on this very densely-packed site, an ad that nicely illustrates the principle of on-axis specimen illumination can be found in the following eBay listing for a vintage Bausch & Lomb stereozoom accessory: <http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAUSCH-LOMB-COAXIAL-...

Wow! What a responsive and helpful group! It'll take me awhile to digest all of this and pass to action, but I'm tempted to try it since the glass is in hand... I'm a newbie in macro but have micro stuff from my work... I'll also see about getting an image host, as direct uploads aren't feasible. I ...

Thanks very much for the quick and cogent reply from a recognized guru among us! I happen to have the tube lens, as well as some of the RMS Epiplan-Neofluar objectives, and was searching photomacrography.net for someone who might have pioneered a set-up within the Zeiss paradigm so that I might avoi...

The elephant in the room?
[img]I've been a lurker for awhile and have read with interest hundreds of posts concerning the use of microscope objectives for macro work. I've enjoyed the wild experimentation with oddball optics of all kinds and especially those cases where one gets an unexpectedly fantastic result from what app...
