"Light Field" photography at 100% chip resolution.
I couldn't find this on a search so sorry if it's a repost but I think this is such exciting news that it's worth repeating anyway. There are only 2 Light Field cameras available right now, Lytro and Raytrix, and both of them capture the light field at only about 25% chip resolution. Panasonic has j...

How on earth?..
...did you get cooperation from a Tiger Beetle? I had photographed some of the MD species in their native environments and they are very challenging! For those that haven't stalked these critters, they are fast on the gound and they have this annoying habit, when you try to approach them, of flying ...

Rife microscope
Does anyone know what this thing is? The information I find on the web makes me think it's a lot of hoopla about nothing. I say that because I could not find any clear technical explanations about it. I found a lot of confusing information and pictures of a complex, home built instrument.. I'm alway...

Pardon laity
If you have 2 focusing eyepieces, do this. 1. Set both eyepieces to roughly midpoint 2. Go to top mag hi-dry objective. 3. Focus image and make sure illumination is proper 4. Do not touch focus again 5. Switch to low mag objective 6. Focus each eyepiece independently to give the sharpest image for e...

Of the 3
I would put my effort into the second microscope first. Some of the early Greenough type designs gave decent images. You would need to get a Canon to eyepiece tube adapter. Don't know the eyepiece diameter on that and that could be the only issue.

I believe the Olympus site is probably encompassed in and expanded by this comprehensive site supported by Leica, Zeiss, Nikon and Olympus.

It's been many decades since I was in school but I seem to remember that one quick way to tell a true dragonfly from a damsel fly, is that dragon flies cannot fold their wings above their bodies. So how could the two shown in the pictures be related, much less of the same species, or did I miss some...

The definitive microscopy website
I just posted my intro in the members section and want to share something with those in this forum. I didn't see it when searching under molecular expressions, so my apologies if it's a repost.

Hello from Maryland
I just found this forum but have been hanging out a while at a micro four thirds forum since I finally took the plunge into a digital system camera from my old 35mm SLR system; obviously a micro four thirds system. I'm amazed at all the technology in consumer cameras now. I'm a Research Microscopy S...
