Thx guys:) For the clamps I have some info that may help to get them: at least in europe they are also sold under the product name Ermeto. Here another detail of my rig; this is about placing backgrounds, lights, diffusors or the object of interest itself. The profiles used for conctruction of the r...

All Ex, if you got your problem with a stripped BD Plan you definitely have to close the light path between the inner and outer shell because definitely a LOT of light would enter there.
If the problem also occurs with a non-stripped objective I can't help.

To complet the story I present a Picture of a 20 Euro note, shot at somewhat above 20x with a Nikon M Plan 20x ELWD and the stack shot. Depth of field is about 3 um, but the calculated rear step size is about 1.3 mm (DOF*Mag.^2). Actually I shot 48 pictues with rear step size of 1.0 mm, distance cam...

As I have mentioned above, I have made an automated rear focussing mechanism. For that I have modified a cheap M42 bellows in a way that it can be mounted on acra swiss clamps: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1572_P1590770_1.jpg The front part mounted in a fixed Position, the rear part...

Downwards shooting, very helpful for objects that cant be pinned: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1572_P1590732_1.jpg An example shot that way (sugar crystals on a mirror plate): http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1572_20170212221452_ZS_PMax_3.jpg Using a bellows (gives much...

Adapter plate on stack shot. This is important: I have drilled 2 additional holes for better fixation (the 2 original holes are a joke). The plate allows me to mount acra swiss quick release clamps or the 45 mm pipe clamps for the M42 tubes. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1572_P159073...

Hi guys, Some years ago I have presented my all-directions macro rig: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12586 Time has passed and I have little by little improve that rig. Actually every time when I was annoyed by some limitation during shooting I worked out a way around it. In f...

It's an interesting technique, I wanna try that too. Just for understanding: wouldn't be the stacked result be the same with all (less) images captured at f9?

Hello Charles, thats a nice solution with the Bridgelux parts, if I had seen that earlier, I would probably have gone that way. However, in between I have done some testing and found a nice (seems so) solution with a collimating lens placed directly in front of the LED. This lens is kept in place by...

Ok I did describe the process in http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12127 I have in between done some studies about optics because I want to assess which lens/sensor combination is good/bad, where the the limitations lie and what to change to improve the setup. I know how to calcu...

@ChrisR: Actuallly I also have a BD Plan Apo (40x 0.80), I came across it before I got the BD Plan 40x ELWD and could not resist. I am very sure that the thread to remove the outer case is in the same position as for all the other BD Plans - just beside the knurling. But removing that outer case doe...
