Absolutely superb Ernst! I have two questions about this image...

1 - Does the age of the prep influence the outcome? I have noticed several people comment on the age of their crystal preps and was wondering if that refers to the length of time it has been crystalizing or since it was mounted. Also, do you use a mounting medium with these? For water-soluble crystal preps, I have noticed degradation of the crystals over time.

2 - Is this image stacked? It appears that the stacking software has created mirror images on all sides of the image.

Regards,
Chris

Chris,

thanks for your appreciation!
1. Yes, the crystals changed after some months due to the hygroscopic substance. The original crystals were formed when the solution water dried on the slide, than only covered against dust.
2. Exactly observed: it's a Combine stack from 3 pictures, and I forgot to cut away the side artefacts.
Regards
Ernst
