Green-veined White Butterfly head.

Post by Steve Nic »

Hi,

this was taken in the field using a Canon 300D, reversed 28-80mm lens and speedlite with diffuser. I was pleased with how it came out, although I'm not too sure about the water droplet.

Image

The image has been cropped to approx 75% of original and the contrast and sharpness tweaked in PS.

Thanks for looking

Steve

Interesting picture. It's neat how the big droplet both enlarges and brings the eye into better focus, so we can see facets there.

I'm curious how that big isolated droplet came about. Rain? Sprinkler?

Hi Rik,

Thanks for commenting,

I took the shot in a brief interval between heavy rain showers (of which we have had far too many this "Summer"). The droplet was left by the rain, I thought that way it acted as a tiny lens was an unusual effect.

Regards

Steve

Wow, nice shot.

The droplet acting as a lens is a pretty neat little effect.
