I like how the eye of this Snake looked like fan coral. Is that a Mite above his eye?

I want to know how you got so close to the snake.....They are known to be pretty nasty when you mess with them. I have captured a few in my youth and you had to be really careful not to get bitten (non poisonous). They did not make very good pets :D. Is this a young one?
