Tabanus body & eyes

Post by Graham46 »

This is my first post to photomacrography. An orthogonal view, and eye shot, of Tabanus lineola (correct me if Im wrong).
Image
Canon 5D mark II with 65mm MP-E at approx. 2X. Lit with macro twin lite mt-24ex. 45 frames stacked in ZS using Pmax. Clone stamped out mounting pin in Photoshop

I have been using ZS for about two months now and am always pleased with the results. Getting a focused abdomen through a wing had been a problem in the past, but comes out very well now.
Questions and comments welcome!

Nice to see some Tabanid photos. T. lineola is a possibilty, it might help an ID if I knew where the specimen was collected.

There are a few spp. in the lineola complex. I think this one is T. subsimilis.
