A Fern Leaflet

Post by Cyclops »

or is it a frondule?
Anyway I pulled one off of my Nephrolepis fern and sandwiched it between two slides and had a look at 125X (12.5X10)
You can see a main vein at the top and if you look close a few stomata:

and heres a closer view of the stomata:

To get the second image I simply zoomed the camera full out(4X, does that mean a final mag of 500X?)

500X!

Ah what the heck! I took the slides apart and swung the 40X into view, (12.5X40=500X)then gently lowered it down till it was touching the leaf. I then used the fine focus and gently moved the slide around, and hey presto, I saw this!
