Outside our house is a large Norway maple, and this time of year we get not only tons of leaves but we also get loads of the little helicopter seeds(Achenes, I think its technically a nut)
So I thought I'd bring one in and photograph it at different magnifications.

I could probably have gone to the bnext stage 400X but these things are quite thick and lighting would be an issue!

I remember as a kid, we would take green ones and open them up and stick them on our nose. I also remember tasting one and it sorta tasted like an acorn. (I am sure everyone has tasted an acorn as a kid...come on now) Also grabbing handfulls and throwing them up in the air.
