I need help - with bellows and ef 100mm 2.8 - x5 x10 ?

Post by SpecialAgent »

I am new - so sorry if this is in the wrong place :-)

I would like some info about x5 or x10 or higher

I got a ef 100mm 2.8 and just bought some Fd bellows on internet - now
what about stacking a EF 100mm 2.8 on top of a Rodenstock Rodagon 50mm 2.8 ??

Does any of you know what the results will be for that?

I am looking into buying either a : FD 50mm 3.5 macro lens

or this : Rodenstock Rodagon 50mm 2.8

I would like to get a x5 or x10 with good sharp images - is that possible?
Canon 40D, 100mm f2.8

A reversed 50 Rodagon on front of the 100 will give you about 2:1 magnification. You could put that assembly on the bellows and get some more magnification out, but at 5:1 and 10:1 you will not likely get particularly sharp images.

To get reasonably sharp images at 5:1 and 10:1 you will really need specialty macro-only lenses or microscope objectives on the bellows.
