A look at things to come?

Next month, Ricoh will start selling a P&S, the CX1 that has some very interesting features. I have no idea how well they are implemented, or how well they will work, but just the fact that they are included means that perhaps we may see more of this in the future.

A few features:

- high speed multiple exposures combined in camera for higher dynamic range.

- 7 high speed exposures automatically recorded at different focal distances(!)

- different "color balances" applied to different portions of the frame for mixed lighting situations

- a continuous shooting mode that will allow you to record the images the camera "saw" before you decide to take the picture. (Nikon just announced a P&S that does this as well, and this exists in some highly specialized cameras already)
