Keratella lorica in b+w

Post by Charles Krebs »

I've always thought that the lorica of these rotifers was one of the neatest structures in the micro world. Recently, I came across an empty lorica and did a stack of images in brightfield illumination.

Curious how they can build such intricate structures, among other micro organisms as well. Great shot there Charlie. :D

Hi Charles,

I totally agree with that. May I be so bold to add one of my archive. It's not as good as yours, but who can compete with the world champion?.

All I know is I need to spend much more time looking through my eyepiece. I want to see these things for myself. Super photos guys

Fascinating and beautiful!

What can you tell me about how they form these lorica?
