And if anybody knows what these cuties are ? The closest seem trophic stage of some myxomycete - but I may be way off. Joris

This makes my head hurt... :lol: I have scuffed and brusied my brain with slime molds so much, it is a wonder that they don't haunt my dreams. Could possibly be amoebo-flagellates (myxamoebae) and indeed they probably are trophic but the only trophic stage that I am familiar with are the coeoncytic plasmodia. Wonderful photo here by the way but as to what species? Don't know. About the only way I know of identifying slime mold species, short of molecular analysis, is to observe the spores directly utilizing the light microscope and even that can be a real head scratcher. :smt017
