Actinoptychus splendens

This is one of the most spectacular diatoms I know, Actinoptychus splendens. I have seen it often in the forum and I also posted one but they were mostly cleaned ones. This is a living specimen.

Great image Wim, I sort of like the live ones much better than the dead and cleaned up ones.

Very nice detail Wim. It is simply amazing the structure of diatoms.

Diatoms are such cool things, and obviously this one has some depth to it.
