Actinoptychus splendens

Post by Wim van Egmond »

This is one of the most spectacular diatoms I know, Actinoptychus splendens. I have seen it often in the forum and I also posted one but they were mostly cleaned ones. This is a living specimen.

Hey where are the "anchovies?" Great image Wim, I sort of like the live ones much better than the dead and cleaned up ones. :D

Very nice detail Wim. It is simply amazing the structure of diatoms.

Diatoms are such cool things, and obviously this one has some depth to it.
