Tattered fly on dry grass

Post by rjlittlefield »

Image

I didn't notice how tattered this little fly was, until I got home and looked at the photo! But the tatters didn't seem to matter much -- it zoomed away just fine an instant after I took this picture!

Technical: Canon A710, 1/60 second f/2.8, auto everything. Shot at dusk. The original image is pretty noisy.
I smoothed out the background with a Gaussian Blur, masked to avoid the fly and grass. Slight color adjustment to compensate for excessively blue color cast.

He is very tattered looking! :D I wonder if he could be tagged and id'd by his tattered markings!!!! Like they do with whales and dolphins etc.

Apologies - it's late in the day for me.
