The second one is a bit dark but it's mainly the lack of back lighting making things looking even worse, I can also improve things by using just the low bits but that's cheating. I'm working on improved lighting now, this was almost dark field.
The pixels on the array are 20um and sensitive, I also use red light because not only are the insects insensitive to it but the camera is sensitive to it.
I'll see if I can sort out a video, this represents some of my most current research so I have to check with my boss first.
