Jumping Spiders

Post by Jody Melanson »

I went and checked out a new place Sunday morning. I wasn't counting, but I found around 15 Jumping Spiders in a 30 sq ft area! I was ecstatic! :D

I took 244 images in 2.5 hours. :) I captured 3 different Jumpers with prey. I think I will be going back there. :D

Just a sample of what I captured......

Huge eyes compared to the other spider caught as prey.

I am arachnophobic but I still really like little jumping spiders and not just because they are little. I like the skid-steer tank style movements and the way they lift their heads to find somewhere to land.

It's good to see portrait format being used.

These are probably the best spiders to choose when you start photographing spiders, in that there is no web to snag with the front of your lens or flashgun.
