Rössjöholm #3

Post by Erland R.N. »

Denmark set a new sun record for a month this May. Beat the previous 1947 record also from May. Reason enough to celebrate with a third thread in my Rössjöholm series. :D

This is a series of pictures showing the emergence of a female Large Red Damselfly, Pyrrhosoma nymphula. Photos were taken between 8:30 and 9:30 on the 3rd of May.
All with 5D, Sigma 150, iso 200, f/10, tripod, mirror lock-up.

The first two showing the damselfly coming out of the larvae shell.

The third picture shows two uncropped pictures, of the damselfly expanding the wings and after that the abdomen. Unfortunately the damselfly and exuvia slided down the sedge it was perched on, and I was unable to finish the shooting, showing the fully expanded abdomen. The damselfly was well though at the bottom of the sedge, and continued to prepare for flyinf away.

Hope you enjoy :D

You know this is something that I have never seen first hand and would really enjoy doing so. These, like the previous ones, are really fantastic Erland! :smt023

Great series, Erland. You should try to turn this into a time lapse animaton.

Cheers

Danny.
Worry about the image that comes out of the box, rather than the box itself.
