You can hear it purring!
I wonder why it has the red at the business end? Seems like enough to call attention to it, but not really enough to count as a "leave me alone, I'm nasty to eat!" warning. _________________ Mike Broderick

Thanks Mike. Who knows why things in nature are the way they are, I have given up trying to figure out most of it. But you have raised a good point. _________________ Joan Young |

Getting really good with that Kodak! Lots of good details popping up in these. As for that concentration of reddish-orange pigments on or around the head and forelegs, could it be a concentration of alkalines in the area? _________________ Ken Ramos

That is one great looking caterpiller. I agree with Ken on the detail. I would say thet red, black and yellow are warning colors and with those hairs, I would not want to try and eat it _________________ Take Nothing but Pictures--Leave Nothing but Footprints.
