The inner workings of a macro lens

Post by Cyclops »

Doug suggested i put my 100mm macro lens in front of the lens on my phone camera but I have to report it doesnt work. All you get is a white dot in a long tunnel and theres no focus at all.
Anyway while i was there I put the cameras light on and had a look inside the lens, and this is what I saw.

Canon 5D and 30D | Canon IXUS 265HS | Cosina 100mm f3.5 macro | EF 75-300 f4.5-5.6 USM III | EF 50 f1.8 II | Slik 88 tripod | Apex Practicioner monocular microscope

When you put two lenses, each designed to focus at infinity, together maybe you get double infinty? :D
My images are a medium for sharing some of my experiences: they are not me.
