Thanks Joan, it was two maybe three inches in size and it was the gills of the fungi that prompted me into taking the photo. Though it may still be alive, it has to be just hanging on if it is. Thanks again. :D

Thanks Antonio, photographing high in the mountains of North Carolina is one of my most favorite pastimes, the diversity of life is very great in the Appalachians. :D

Yes Larry the Sigma seems to have been a good investment so far, have not had a problem with it. Seals are holding well and the zoom and focus work quite smoothly, not even a wooble when the lens is extended. I have not taken it off my 20D since acquiring it and I am getting great all round photos. Don't know why it got such bad reviews. :-k
