I am working on a presentation called the Micro-Universe which I hope will promote more interest in microscopy and I will include both pictures and video. I will also show some entry level microscopes and photomicrographs that kids took using a teaching microscope and a cell phone.
I tested the paper folding microscopes - and frankly I think a toy microscope is better - but I do appreciate what the scientists that developed the folding microscopes www.foldscope.com are trying to do. They cost about $2 each, they also offer a deluxe scope for $40, but a 40X magnifying loupe with an LED light made in China and available on Amazon for $15 is easier to use and provides a clearer image in my opinion. I will give my folding scopes out to children in the audience for free.
Images photographed with Zeiss Axioscope and Nikon D500 camera and a Canon MP65-E lens - snowflake.
Here are a couple of images I am using in my presentation.
Including a ciliate DIC microscopy 400X, hydra feeding on cladoceran, desmid, Vitamin C crystals polarized light microscope and a snowflake.
