There is a fascinating book STIFF by Mary Roach about corpses and what happens to them. This is one of the sources for histology teaching slides, and I have accumulated a variety of thin slices of former people. Philosophically, I can balance the marginal discomfort very heavily with the marvel at seeing and photographing what makes us up.
