In the last times I am discovering the importance of lighting in the final quality. I find it very curious that in micro photography the importance of lighting is much more evident than normal photography (even when we are talking about chromatic aberration). I am now applying what I know of studio photography in my micros and the result is much better. Reflectors, reflectors and more reflectors.

Yes, it is too easy to use "flat" light for everything.

Nice control of all those potential high reflective faces that are so common to micro-mineral specimens.
