Adapter for 22mm scanner lenses
Does anyone know of an appropriate adapter for 22mm diameter barrel-mount lenses? I'd like to test a few 21.7-22mm lenses I've accumulated but this seems to be an intermediate range with no adpater support.

Hi Ray,
If nothing better comes up a Thorlabs SM1 threaded coupler sleeve is 23.5 ID.
Metal shim tape could close the gap.
Item: SM1T10 - SM1 (1.035"-40) Coupler, External Threads, 1" Long

That is usually my first choice when I don't have something in-hand but Raf can take time.Pau wrote:Rafcamera can make it for sure
Chinese adapters are less $ but I find more and more that the threads only meet specs maybe 50% of the time lately. Too many of my Chinese adapters end up in the garbage in the past 6 months.
All of my Raf adapters work well.

Thanks Robert, I did not check any C-mount accessories. I have some C-mount extensions that may do the trick. Will try them out and see if they will work.
I picked up a Kyocera scanner lens assembly, and the lens is 21.7mm, while the Scanner Nikkor 2000 and 3000 lenses are both 22mm. I'd like to have a good mounting solution to test these effectively.
I also just received a couple of HP scanner lens assemblies. One of the lenses is 30mm dia, while the other is 38mm. Both have long-ish WD at 2x mag so I'm thinking they may end up being useful. I'll post results at some point soon.

I once had a M22*0.5mm adapter made for my S-Planar 32mm f/4:

He still lists it as being for sale on his own page but not on his ebay page:

Unfortunately the measurement for metric thread screws is to the outside of the male screw thread, so that the extreme inside of the female thread is smaller than the designated M number. So this M22 thread is probably 21mm or so. I would need an M23 or similar to fit the 22mm outside diameter of the lens barrel.dickb wrote:I once had a M22*0.5mm adapter made for my S-Planar 32mm f/4:

I can measure the exact minimal inner diameter of this adapter at the moment, as soon as I find my calipers I will let you know.ray_parkhurst wrote:Unfortunately the measurement for metric thread screws is to the outside of the male screw thread, so that the extreme inside of the female thread is smaller than the designated M number. Other adapters potentially suitable are:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Camera-adapter ... SwSzRZP0gP
(fun fact: these were made for me specifically, unfortunately they mistakenly used the first draft of the design, making it less than perfectly useful for my original needs. I have since used these to adapt other lenses in the 22mm diameter range though).
I had these made to replace the original Schneider focussing mount for certain Xenoplan and Cinegon lenses that combine a fine 22.5mm thread to C mount adapter with a clamping mechanism. These are really nicely solid but difficult to find without the matching expensive lens.

I use the original Meopta version of these adapters, these may fit just over 22mm diameter barrels.

These are larger, 25mm in diameter and a good tight fit for the Nikon scanner 4000ED lens.

Ray, don't forget my quick & dirty 3D printed adapters which serve great and are very simple do design and print:http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=37862
I have made dozens of them and use them on a daily basis.
Best regards,
Miljenko

Well, to take advantage of your designs/files, I'd need a 3D printer.Miljenko wrote:Ray, don't forget my quick & dirty 3D printed adapters which serve great and are very simple do design and print:http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=37862

Ok, internal diameters, measured on the top of the threads are:dickb wrote:I can measure the exact minimal inner diameter of this adapter at the moment, as soon as I find my calipers I will let you know.ray_parkhurst wrote:Unfortunately the measurement for metric thread screws is to the outside of the male screw thread, so that the extreme inside of the female thread is smaller than the designated M number. I use the original Meopta version of these adapters, these may fit just over 22mm diameter barrels.
21.4mm M22*0.5mm adapter made for S-Planar 32mm f/4
22.3mm original Schneider focussing mount for certain Xenoplan and Cinegon lenses that combine a fine 22.5mm thread to C mount adapter with a clamping mechanism
22.5mm the Chinese copy for the Schneider adapter that I had made
23.0mm Meopta M23.5 to M39 adapter
So, Ray, none of these are the perfect match for your 21.7mm needs, maybe the Schneider can work for the Scanner Nikkors 2000 and 3000, depending on the exact measurement of those lenses
