Field Dandelion Thrip

Post by Ken Ramos »

Hard to imagine the size of these little things, maybe a little less than a millimeter, maybe a half (500um). Dunno :smt017

Image

Omano OM2300S-V3 dissecting microscope/Canon G9X 10.2mm @ 1/20th sec. @ f/2.0 ISO 125 Illumination 150W variable dual pipe fiber optic halogen. Dozens of them found crawling about inside a field dandelion. Sedated with 90 proof to get the photo, the Thrip not me, though it might not would have hurt...much. Little varmint wouldn't stay still. :?

Nicely shot!

For what it's worth, the official singular is "thrips" even though it always sounds weird. "This thrips is drunk!"
