Fun fact - If you drop a living tick into a jar of acetone, the legs don't ball up like a fist. When you retrieve the subject the next day, all of the legs are extended.

Interesting fact. Does the acetone change colors of the subject?

You might ask the tick if that is a “fun” fact... It might have a differing opinion.

I practiced numerous cruelties on invertebrates in my youth. Now I am glad that when I close the lid on the freezer I can not hear them scream...

Fun fact

Unlike alcohol, which bleaches the colors out of many insects ( like turning the yellow in hornets black) acetone does not affect the colors. As for the morality of doing cruel things to ticks, I live in a forest on a mountaintop with cats, who bring ticks in when they go out. Cats sleep beside us on our beds. The next time anyone combs their hair and finds an engorged tick on their comb, I would think they might want to explore their opinions.
