Recent Protozoa and Rotifer Photographs with DIC

Post by Robert Berdan »

I recently purchased a Zeiss DIC microscope which cost me an arm and leg - and I might have to sell one of my kidneys (I am kidding). I am really enjoying taking pictures with it. I am attaching some photos taken with DIC and polarizing microscopy. Some of the photos were taken using Rheinberg lighting. I purchased the filters on E-bay. I used my Axioscope 10, 20, 40, 63X plan Achromat objectives, captured the images using a Nikon D500 and Digicam control software and edited the images in Photoshop. I welcome any comments.

I also posted a movie of the protozoa and rotifers on my web site if anyone is interested.

Hope the pictures come through I made them 1024 and saved medium .jpg files.

Well done Rob! I'm sure the instrument is worth it.
