First pictures

I finally bought a microscope (a 30-year old Zeiss Jenamed 2) after years of wanting one, and here are some first test pictures I made during the last months. Can't wait for the huge amount of snow around me to melt so I can go out and take water samples and other fun stuff!

Crystals of menthol in cross-polarized light, 10x.

A hair in cross-polarized light, 10x. Never knew hair was birefringent!

A grain of sand in cross-polarized light, 20x.

Some unknown stuff I found in a molten snow sample, darkfield, 40x.

Diatoms in darkfield, 20x.

A cyclops in partially cross-polarized light, 10x.

Beautiful photos. Great work. I too have been wanting a microscope for a number of years and managed to obtain one not too long ago. I recently shot video footage through it for the first time which I'll upload soon.
