Heather flowers

Post by micro_pix »

I have a few different varieties of Heather in the garden; the flower heads are around 7mm long so I can just fit them in the frame with a 4x Nikon objective.

The first one is from today and the second I took over a year ago.

I had a look at the pollen of the purple heather today, the grains are around 15 microns long; they remind me of rough diamonds. The image is in reflected X polarized light.
