Foraminifera (North Atlantic) > update

Post by WalterD »

Quote "Foraminifera are among the most abundant shelled organisms in many marine environments"
When reorganizing things I came across a foraminifera slide in entellan I made a couple of months ago. That time (not mounted yet) they were observed with reflected darkfield,
(Leitz Orthoplan with Ultropak), in photos 1,2 (both 22x) and 6 (42x). 3,4 and 5 show the results of observation in mountant with the (color) differential interference contrast setup on the Leitz Ortholux 2 (25x/40x objective).
The ball shaped ones should be the Globigerinida, all are from the North Atlantic ocean where still present. Keep an eye on tomorrow's update.
