My searches found it may possibly be Acanthocystis chaetophere, so for the time being I will just got with Acanthocystis sp.

Assuming you mean Acanthocystis chaetophora, that is just a junior synonym of A. turfacea.

There are not many species of Acanthocystis that can be identified without an electron microscope, but A. turfacea is one. :)
