Mosquito pupa. Respiratory tubes ("trumpets").. ad

Post by Charles Krebs »

The first image is a rather ominous image of the pupa from the side.

The next two are are a couple of ("cross-eyed") stereo shots looking directly into pupa breathing tubes at the waters surface. This was a live, breathing pupa and it was rather frustrating to get the image stacks needed. Zerene did a good alignment job with the slight movement involved.

The first stereo is from a stack of 105 images with a 20X. The second from a stack of 32 images with a 50X.

Impressive !
2nd stereo- I'm surprised, perfect quality, only 32 photos. What Zerene settings were used for stereo ? Other special treatment ?
Thanks,
Saul

Just wow! Every time I think I might be getting a little bit closer (though still distant) to producing quality images like yours - you turn out something like this! Hate you! ( :D )

Absolutely brilliant pictures! Maybe this should be filed under "wildlife microscopic photography" :)

Wow! I can't imagine how you took the photo of the pupa on the surface of the water - from the side! They are all amazing images. I love the stereos of the breathing tubes.
