One Lucky Amphileptus

Post by Microbia »

Video: https://youtu.be/M4piFaiqdz4
This Аmphileptus is definitely very lucky, because it managed to avoid death two times. It escaped safe and sound right from the mouth of a predator (Chaetogaster limnaei). Apparently, the worm didn't like Amphileptus.. Maybe because it's a predator too ..
However, Amphiletus was fortunate for the 3rd time. After watching, I let him go back to the jar, though I'd never done this before.

Microbia, welcome aboard! :D

That's an amazing capture. How long did you have to record to catch that sequence!?

Nice video ! I was very often watching hunting Chaetogaster. For example I could see how it caught rotifers (Keratell cochlearis) and none of them could escape. It hunts like the miniature vaccum cleaner. I think this ciliate was not simply so tasty ;)
