Hi Gang
A first shot of a Rhinoceros beetle I picked up on Monday. Had to wait for it
to die, then I let him harden.
I use OO (double ought) pins to spread the legs and bring forward the
antenna. The Palps were already in a forward, menacing position.

Thank you for responding. Let me say that these subjects with highly
reflective black and textured surfaces are a challenge for me to shoot.
I have about 12 other stacks that I tossed because the results just were
not there.
I ended up doing multiple lights, and shooting through white plexiglass
to illuminate the bottom.
Then, to get the dimension I wanted, I used a polarizer filter to remove the
reflections that were visually intruding.
It amazes me on the complexity of this small world. I mean, look at
those lower legs; so tiny and fragile!
I am heading out of town for the eclipse, but when I get back, I will be
doing more with this specimen.
Again, thanks
