Nikon E Plan 10x/0.25 WD 7.0 can work for macro?

Post by gaconsooner »

Hi folks,

I have been taking macro photos with reverse lens for a while. Now I'm upgrading my gears to achieve higher magnification.
I have been searching around for tutorials and equipment discussion and decided to buy a microscope objective. I found a pretty decent deal on Ebay for Nikon E Plan 10x/0.25 WD 7.0 but I wonder if it will work with my DSLR well and the quality of stacked photos

This is the image of the objective

Anyone here had experience with this objective??? Please help me

That looks like a model MRP70100. If so, then see my comments at http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 206#181206 . The vignetting issue mentioned there is much more of a problem with full-frame sensor or if you try to push the objective below 10X by using a tube lens shorter than 200 mm. At rated magnification on APS-C the MRP70100 is OK.

What type camera are you using?

I'm using both Sony A7 and Canon 1300D, but the crop camera is more preferred

MRP70100 would be OK on the Canon 1300D.

But be sure to consider the other options mentioned at that link I gave.

All of them are viable, but they occupy quite different points on the curve of price versus performance.

Many thanks, luckily I got another deal for Nikon Mplan 10x 0.25 210/0 . At least I have something to test on insect macro

Sounds good. Note that the M Plan is finite, designed to work on empty extension totaling 200 mm from the sensor (200=210-10). The E Plan was infinite, designed to work with a 200 tube lens.
