Not quite a spider

Post by tpe »

The first one is pretty clear, the second too, but i am afraid the third may not work so well at this resolution and focus. The bit to look out for is not the long horn beetle but the pseudoscorpion catching a lift.

Are the white bits, the black bits or both eyes on these things?

Nicely done photos but what is that appendage, I might guess you could say, rising up from the middle of the abdomen of the Opilione? :-k

Thanks for the comment Ken. I was wondering about that too. I know a lot of them have a great deal of sexual dimorphism and some very ornate appendages but usually in the mandible (pedipalp?) area. I think Paul has posted some very nice ones here some time ago. None of our local ones have such protrusions though.
