Mite in the morning

Post by Pete »

A bunch of these little guys were mooching about on the table as I breakfasted in the garden this morning.
I took a shot hand held by available light (bright sun) using an Oshiro 60mm f2.8 macro 2:1 lens on a D810, F11 ish, iso 2500.
As the sun came round, they were heading for the shadows as fast as they could, so no time to set up properly.
When processing the shot, I noticed that the subject had a set of even smaller mites on it's rear end!! Or are these offspring?
I'm a bit light on information on the Acari, so I'd appreciate any info that would help identify this critter.
I estimate it's size as slightly less than a millimetre in length.
