A green moth

Post by Beatsy »

Ooh, a green moth, that'll be easy to ID (I thought to myself). But in the end, I just despair of ever being any good at identifying insects from books :(

Maybe a Green Carpet moth? Or a Red Green Carpet moth, without the red (which happens, apparently). Or something entirely different. Moth is about 15mm long.

10x mitty on Raynox DCR-250 (6x on sensor) - stack of 400 images. Inset done with MP-E 65 @ 1x - about 60 image stack.

Beautiful, I like the lighting and colors too, looks sort of exotic to me.

Quite well done, and I like the inset to give an idea of the whole beast. Beautiful!

Your moth appears to be a Yellow-barred brindle which can be quite variable in colour…great image

Beautiful indeed, and you appear to still be under that special alignment of the stars that keeps stacking artifacts from forming in your neck of the woods.
