Unidentified "fly"

Post by microman »

Found this one in the kitchen lamp. Probably been there since last summer.
At first i thought it was burnt becouse it was so black. Then i took a closer look and it was quite cool looking.

I thought a black background would nice but the fly was as dark as black velvet so background whent grey.

A pic from mobile phone for size comparison. After trying to mount it both wings and all legs fell off... And also the antennas fell apart so i dont think they are supposed to have holes in them lol.

Me too. I wonder what it is used for. Or mayby its only decoration hehe.
Need to get a book on insects so i can ID more easely.

Btw, the stack was deeper first but the hairs beyond the farther eye only made a hazy mess so i ended the stack right after the farther eye. I think my lightning might not be optimal. Going to add one more for sidelight and order some better CRI leds. The one i use is very high kelvin and low CRI but i already had them from before so thought i try em.

Also going try pingpong balls. Seems to be popular way of lightning a subject.

I second that. Those spikes look menacing.
I'm in Canada! Isn't that weird?
