Staurastrum desmid 100x and SEM

A Staurastrum sp. desmid from a pond sample, about 36 micron from corner to corner, dried and mounted in CytoSeal, 100x Apo objective, bright field, stack of 10 images:

Here is my SEM photo of a different specimen from the same sample, which I believe is the same species (the photo is pretty bad, but it shows an interesting angle that helps to understand the 3D shape of the subject):

That's a typical desmid, a green algae , Kit!

For me this looks like a half-cell of a Staurastrum desmid, not a diatom.
