Dear all,
Does anyone know how I can modify this microscope to mount a camera on it?

Best regards,

Hi Arnstein,

No modification of the microscope is necessary. All you have to do is to mount a camera with camera objective above the eyepiece in the phototube. This is called an "afocal" setup.

For further help, we need to know:

- What eyepiece do you have in the phototube (looks like an S-Kpl 10x but could also be a projective)?
- What camera do you want to mount?
- Do you have any clamp adapters for mounting the camera already?

Dear Ichty,
Thanks for your quick respone. Picture shows the eyepiece. There used to be a analog camera on top, but would need some adapters to mount a Nikon DSLR on top, I guess.. I found a picture online that shows the actual setup: http://www.dougcraftfineart.com/Artimag ... pe1web.jpg

You already have the best Zeiss photoeyepiece for afocal photomicrography

Take look at
http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?p=99265 , where you have some relevant info about magnification and different camera setups.

For a Nikon DSLR you want a 40mm lens for APSC (DX) or a 60mm lens like the micro-nikkors for FF (FX) (the original film camera you linked has inside a 63mm lens)

If your camera has not Electronic silent shutter like the D800E to control vibrations I would recommend a separated camera stand like in my first setup.

Hi,

If the eyepiece is free of delamination, it will be perfect for adapting the camera.

What camera do you want to use? As Pau said, the camera objective depends on the size of the camera sensor. Most Nikon DSLRs produce so much vibration that you can't clamp them directly to the microscope. You'd need a copy stand to uncouple the camera, like this: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... c.php?t=12 (but with a camera objective instead of bellows).
