The house centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata) is a cosmopolitan species that originates in the Mediterranean. Where they occur now (and that is on many continents, I believe), they are commonly seen running up walls, and sometimes waiting to say 'hello' in your bathtub or shower when you are probably not carrying a camera.
I deliberately put this big one in my bathtub, on white paper, to keep it from easily escaping while I took pictures. This worked well, although it tried very hard to escape and got pretty close sometimes. Afterwards, I let it go outside.
Can we get some love for the house centipede?
