Amoeba ingesting diatom
Amoeba ingesting diatom. I have noticed two things. First, it appears this species of amoeba has a special preference for this species of diatom -- I have seen other examples. Second, it appears that the amoeba invests so much of its protoplasm in enveloping the diatom, it doesn't have any left for the pseudopods.
