This time of year I will sometimes see winged adult reproductive termites fluttering around at dusk.
I'm pretty sure this species is Zootermopsis angusticollis, the Pacific Dampwood Termite.

Super Stack Charles. I love the side profile view and everything is razor sharp as usual. The antennae and palps are fantastic _________________ Take Nothing but Pictures--Leave Nothing but Footprints.

Good Lord! This one is magnificent, hadn´t seen it till now, but it´s worth bringing it up on the first ranks again, ´cos that´s where it belongs, IMO!
Best wishes from an awestruck

Thanks all!
Raul... there are a couple shots showing some of my set-up here:
http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2825
I normally use a Lumedyme flash with two flash heads on small boom arms instead of the small Nikon units pictured here (it was getting repaired at the time)
Jordan... yup. I missed that one stacking artifact. After you mentioned it that's all I could see ... so now it's gone! |

OK, this may be a new record for bumping old posts.
Prior to edward137's comment, the thread was over 10 years old -- previous last post was Sept 13, 2007.
grgh, I think you missed the fact that Charles replied to Jordan as follows:
Quote: | Jordan... yup. I missed that one stacking artifact. After you mentioned it that's all I could see ... so now it's gone! |
In other words, there's not supposed to be anything to see now -- the image has been edited to fix the problem!
