Hi.
Found this rail online the other day . It's an automatic stacking rail from China. Not sure if anyone have seen it or owns one but it looks pretty promising.

Just received an email from them $340+$40 shipping

That's a pretty big spider (in their animation)!
Very interesting device. Competition for the StackShot. |

Interesting. Looks like it can only be controlled from a PC - so not portable? I hope there will be more competition from Chinese manufacturers for stuff like this - this should bring prices down. I think it's realistic to make something like this in China for ~150$ and still make profit. |

Nice stuff.
Minimal resolution is 1µ so this might be usefull even for HiMag.
Thanks for sharing this. _________________ Regards

I just watched the 1 micrometer test video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HShG_e6-AU
which supposedly demonstrated WeMacro's accuracy by using a micrometer to measure the steps. It looked suspicious. First, they never showed the whole micrometer during the test, just the dial. Second, at the end the video said "For reference only", possibly implying they just manipulated the micrometer to simulate 1 micrometer steps.
They could have made video output from the camera itself on a resolution target while moving. This would also have shown rotation or irregular motion of focus point. It would have been far more convincing and much easier. Why didn't they do that? _________________ Lou Jost

It's not fake Lou - I have one, and on my "bought for the purpose of testing it" dial indicator, it does do the 1µ steps. I'm testing for jumps and gyrations - too early to conclude anything definite yet. Whether it's consistent enough for high magnification stepping I wouldn't know. Yes it is cheaper than Stackshot, but then the software also isn't as sophisticated as Stackshot's - less controls. For example no backlash setting.
For field work, there's an Android client ( see http://www.wemacro.com/?p=564 ) that runs the device without the need to use a laptop or PC. For field power supply, there's a very happy coincidence in that the field power supply for Stackshot actually fits this as well, and it works just fine!
I understand that they're looking at roundabout the $300 mark for eventual pricing, that's with all the cables, the control box, software (a download from the wemacro site). When I'm done testing it a bit more I'll put up a page about it on my site. _________________ My extreme-macro.co.uk site, a learning site. Fyi, did a review of this stage at http://extreme-macro.co.uk/wemacro-rail/
I also have the new Stackrail stage coming so I'll be able to add a 3 rail comparison to the site in a bit between these and stackshot. _________________ My extreme-macro.co.uk site, a learning site. Your comments and input there would be gratefully appreciated. |

Hi Johny
Thanks for asking.
We had users who use sony A7R2.I think the shutter cable is the same.We can supply the corresponding shutter cable. |
