Fly On Yellow Flowers

Post by georgedingwall »

Hi All,

I took these shots earlier today on a flowering shrub, (Brachyglottis greyii, AKA Senecio greyii), which is located just under my study window. I have no idea what kind of fly it is, but it was quite large and looked a bit like a bee.

D200 - Nikon 105mm VR macro
F11 @ ISO 500 on aperture priority.
fill flash.
Handheld.
about 75% crop.
Finished in Photoshop.

WOW, the yellow of the flower really sets off the great looking fly. Excellent composition as well as DOF and focus. Very beautiful George

Two exceptionally nice images George - focus, illumination and colour balance all excellent. These are the quality of image that I'm hoping to produce as I gain experience with my new Nikon D80 and 105mm macro lens.
