This is one of the strangest things I've ever heard of!

I did some googling to confirm it in case it was some kind of gag, but this less informative article in a better-known paper confirms it:

There's also a fairly substantial article in Wikipedia about the oceanographer mentioned in the first article. Not ironclad, but a bit more evidence to support the idea.

That is so neat. An interesting article but not far fetched I would think. Maybe I am just an odd person, everyone else around here seems to think so anyways at times. :-k :D

Well, I do know that a request for an aerial photographer has been submitted, so I suppose someone wants some images of these guys.
